91精品 is excited to share with you some of the Juneteenth Celebrations taking place around the city of Chicago. Juneteenth, or Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. It was first celebrated in Texas, where on June 19, 1865, enslaved people were finally made aware that they had been freed under the Emancipation Proclamation of 1862. Now as federal holiday, Juneteenth is celebrated nationwide, including here in Chicago with several cultural events and activities. Here is a sampling of those events:

    • June 19 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • The Juneteenth Pullman Neighborhood Celebration will feature a parade, as well as a day of youth athletic activities, including basketball, football, track & field and more.
  •
    • June 19-20
    • This weekend long pop-up shop celebrates Black businesses from beauty to fashion to food in Chicago at the Promontory in Hyde Park
